1. About these terms
These Terms and Conditions apply when you:
- use the English Lesson via Skype website;
- buy a digital guide or another downloadable product;
- enrol in an online course;
- book a one-to-one English lesson;
- buy a lesson package;
- use our free articles, videos, podcasts or other content; or
- join our email list.
By using our website or buying a product or service, you agree to these terms.
These terms do not remove any consumer rights that apply to you under the law of the country where you live.
2. Who we are
English Lesson via Skype is a trading name used by:
Trading name: English Lesson via Skype
Website: englishlessonviaskype.com
Email: help@englishlessonviaskype.com
In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean the person trading as English Lesson via Skype.
3. Who may buy from us
Our paid lessons, courses and digital products are intended for adults aged 18 or over.
We do not offer lessons for children.
By placing an order or booking a lesson, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into the agreement.
4. Orders and payments
All purchases are one-off payments. We do not charge recurring membership or subscription fees unless this is clearly stated before purchase.
Products, courses, lesson packages and individual lessons must be paid for in advance.
Payments may be processed through Stripe or PayPal. Their own terms and privacy policies also apply when you use their services.
The total price, including any applicable tax, will be shown before you complete the payment.
Your order is accepted when we:
- confirm the order;
- provide access to the digital product or course; or
- confirm the lesson booking.
We may cancel and refund an order if:
- there is an obvious pricing or technical error;
- a product or service is no longer available;
- we cannot provide the product or service;
- the payment appears unauthorised or fraudulent; or
- we reasonably believe that the order breaches these terms.
We may change our prices at any time. A price change will not affect a purchase that has already been completed.
5. Digital guides and downloadable products
Digital guides and other downloadable products are normally provided through an immediate download page after payment.
You are responsible for:
- giving us the correct email address;
- downloading and saving the file;
- using a suitable device and software to open the file; and
- contacting us if the download does not work.
Because access is provided immediately and cannot be removed after delivery, we do not normally offer refunds after access has been provided.
By requesting immediate access to a digital product, you agree that delivery may begin immediately. You understand that your legal right to cancel may end once access begins, where applicable law permits this.
This does not affect any legal rights you may have if the product:
- is faulty;
- cannot be accessed;
- is materially different from its description; or
- has not been supplied as agreed.
Contact us at help@englishlessonviaskype.com if you experience a problem with a digital product.
6. Online courses
Our online courses may be hosted on Thinkific or another course platform named on the product page.
After payment, you will receive instructions explaining how to access the course.
Course content is normally available through your online account. Course materials may not be downloaded unless a download option is specifically provided.
Your course access and login details are for your personal use only.
You must not:
- share your account or password;
- allow another person to use your account;
- share course access links;
- record course videos or audio;
- copy or distribute course materials;
- upload course materials to another website or platform; or
- use the course to teach or train other people without our written permission.
Unless the sales page states a specific access period, you will have access while the course remains available on the platform.
We may:
- correct mistakes;
- update lessons;
- replace outdated material;
- change the order of lessons;
- move a course to another suitable platform; or
- make reasonable changes that improve the course.
Because online course access normally begins shortly after payment, refunds are not normally offered after you have accessed the course.
This does not affect rights that cannot legally be excluded, including rights relating to faulty, unavailable or misdescribed digital content.
7. One-to-one lessons
Payment
All lessons must be paid for in advance.
A lesson is not confirmed until we have received payment or applied an available lesson credit from a prepaid package.
Cancelling or rescheduling a lesson
You may cancel or reschedule a lesson without charge when you give us at least 12 hours’ notice.
If you cancel with less than 12 hours’ notice, you will be charged the full lesson fee.
If you do not attend the lesson and have not cancelled it, you will be charged the full lesson fee.
Notice must be sent directly to the teacher or through the contact method normally used to arrange your lessons.
If the teacher cancels
If the teacher needs to cancel, you will not be charged for the cancelled lesson.
We will offer a new lesson time or return the lesson credit to your package.
Replacing a teacher
We may replace a teacher when necessary because of illness, availability or another reasonable reason.
We will try to provide a suitable replacement. If this is not possible, we will reschedule the lesson without charge.
Technical problems
You are responsible for having:
- a working internet connection;
- a suitable device;
- working audio;
- any required meeting software; and
- a quiet place where you can take part in the lesson.
If a technical problem on our side or the teacher’s side prevents the lesson from taking place, we will reschedule it without charge.
If a problem with your internet connection, device, microphone, software or other equipment prevents the lesson, we will make a reasonable effort to continue through another platform or method.
If the lesson cannot continue because of a technical problem on your side, the lesson may still be charged. We will consider the circumstances before making a final decision.
8. Lesson packages
Lesson packages must be paid for in advance.
Lesson packages do not expire.
You may transfer unused lessons to another person, but you must contact us before the transfer. We may need the new student’s name, email address, level and lesson requirements.
A lesson package may not be resold for profit.
The normal 12-hour cancellation rule applies to every lesson booked from a package.
If we can no longer provide the remaining lessons in a package, we will offer a suitable alternative teacher or refund the value of the unused lessons.
9. Personal-use licence
When you buy a digital guide, course or other digital product, you receive a limited licence to use it for your own personal learning.
You may:
- read the material on your own devices;
- print a digital guide for your own use; and
- keep your personal copy for reference.
You must not:
- share the product with another person;
- email or send copies to other people;
- share a download link;
- share course login details;
- upload the material to a website, group, shared drive or platform;
- copy substantial parts of the material;
- resell it;
- distribute it;
- remove copyright or ownership notices; or
- use it to create another product for sale.
Each learner needs a separate licence.
Teachers, companies, language schools and training providers may not buy one copy and distribute it to several students, employees or clients.
Please contact us if you need licences for several people.

You may not reproduce or republish our free or paid content without written permission, except where the law clearly allows it.
11. Emails and communication

- an existing purchase;
- course access;
- a booked lesson;
- payment;
- security; or
- customer support.
We do not sell or rent your email address or other personal information.
We may share the information needed to provide our services with trusted service providers, including:
- Stripe

These providers process information for the services they provide to us. Their own terms and privacy policies may also apply.
Please read our Privacy Policy for more information about how we collect, use, store and protect personal information.
12. Learning results
We provide practical English-learning products and teaching services, but we cannot promise a particular result.
Your progress depends on factors including:

- your participation;
- how often you study;

You remain responsible for how you use the language, advice and materials we provide.

You are responsible for deciding whether particular language is appropriate for your own circumstances.
We may update, correct, remove or replace free content at any time.

Our services may use third-party providers, including:
- Thinkific for online courses;
- Stripe for payment processing;
- PayPal for payment processing;
- video-meeting platforms; and
- email delivery services.
We are not responsible for the general content, security, availability or privacy practices of an independent third-party service.
If a technical problem with one of these services affects a product you bought from us, contact us. We will make a reasonable effort to restore access or provide another suitable solution.
15. Changes to products and services
We may:
- update or correct digital products;
- replace outdated content;
- change future prices;
- replace a teacher;
- reschedule a lesson when necessary;
- change the platform used to deliver a course;
- stop selling a product; or
- stop offering a service.
A change in price will not affect a completed purchase.
Where practical, we will give existing customers reasonable notice before removing access to a paid course or service.
We will not use this section to remove legal rights connected with a purchase you have already made.
16. Misuse and suspension of access
We may suspend or remove access to a course, account or digital product if we reasonably believe that you have:
- shared login details;
- shared access or download links;
- distributed protected material;
- copied or resold our content;
- used the service unlawfully;
- attempted to damage the website or course platform;
- harassed a teacher or another person; or
- seriously breached these terms.
Where appropriate, we will contact you before removing access and give you an opportunity to explain what happened.
Serious copyright infringement, fraud, abusive behaviour or deliberate misuse may result in immediate removal of access.
17. Availability and events outside our control
We try to keep our website, course platform and digital products available.
However, access may sometimes be interrupted because of:
- maintenance;
- platform updates;
- internet outages;
- security problems;
- third-party service failures;
- illness;
- technical faults; or
- events outside our reasonable control.
We are not responsible for a delay caused by an event outside our reasonable control.
Where a paid product or service is affected, we will make a reasonable effort to:
- restore access;
- reschedule the lesson;
- provide an alternative; or
- offer another appropriate solution.
18. Our responsibility
We will provide our paid services with reasonable care and skill.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits responsibility that cannot legally be excluded or limited.
To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for loss caused by:
- incorrect information supplied by you;

- an incompatible device, browser or software;
- a problem with your internet connection;
- a third-party outage outside our reasonable control;
- your decision to use a phrase or recommendation in a particular situation; or
- a result that depends on your own study, preparation, work or decisions.
If you use our products or services for business purposes, we are not responsible for indirect loss of:
- profit;
- revenue;
- contracts;
- customers;
- business opportunities; or
- data,
except where applicable law does not allow this limitation.

Please include:

We will review the issue and reply as soon as reasonably possible.
20. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when our products, services, platforms or legal obligations change.
The date at the top of this page shows when the terms were last updated.
Changes will normally apply to future use and future purchases. They will not remove rights that already apply to a completed purchase.
21. Applicable law and disputes
Nothing in these terms removes any mandatory consumer protection that applies in the country where you live.
Before starting formal legal action, you and English Lesson via Skype should first try to resolve the matter by contacting each other directly.
Any dispute that cannot be resolved will be handled by a court or other authority that has legal jurisdiction under the applicable law.
